In the context of digital asset management, AI is used mainly to apply general metadata tags to images as they are imported to a DAM platform.
When used alongside machine learning, AI can also be used for facial recognition, application of custom keywords, and number or logo recognition. These services are highly valuable to specific industries and contexts and take a large time and financial investment to be executed properly.
While a majority of DAM platforms use and offer some form of AI functionality, many of these features are limited and specific to use cases. If your organization is considering using AI to ease the strains on your team’s bandwidth, keep in mind that the capabilities of the technology are limited and that it requires routine maintenance and quality control.
